    This course has been developed by the Directorate of Learning Disability Services at Bro Morgannwg NHS Trust. Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) is the most up-to-date, evidence based approach for effectively supporting people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. It is designed to translate contemporary service values into action and includes the key components of person centred planning, understanding challenging behaviour, mental health, the 3-stage intervention model, comprising primary prevention (Active Support, inclusive communication and skill teaching), secondary prevention and reactive strategies.

    It also shows how to translate plans into person centred action through Positive Behavioural Support.

    Successful completion of this assessed course leads to BTEC Advanced Certificate: a nationally recognised qualification which is mapped against National Occupational Standards (NVQ) and the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework.

    Positive Behavioural Support - BTEC Advanced Diploma

    This course has been developed by the Directorate of Learning Disability Services at Bro Morgannwg NHS Trust. The advanced diploma has a similar structure to the advanced certificate. Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) is the most up-to-date, evidence based approach for effectively supporting people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. It is designed to translate contemporary service values into action and includes the key components of person centred planning, understanding challenging behaviour, mental health, the 3-stage intervention model, comprising primary prevention (Active Support, inclusive communication and skill teaching), secondary prevention and reactive strategies. It also shows how to translate plans into person centred action through Positive Behavioural Support. At diploma level there is more detail concerning key topics such as treatment options for mental health, behavioural assessment, and on several primary prevention procedures such as Active Support, skill teaching, and differential reinforcement. There is also an additional new unit (10) which explores key management issues regarding the implementation, maintenance and quality assurance of PBS
